Station ID: RAG Station Name: NOAA ARLFRD Profiler/Sodar Site, Raging Waters 1200 West 1700 South Salt Lake City, UT 84104 Latitude: 40 43.92' N Longitude: 111 55.65' W Elevation: 1291 m Notes: This is a brief description of the surface meteorological data acquired by tower-based in situ sensors at the Raging Waters entertainment complex. A 10-m open-lattice aluminum tower purchased from Universal Manufacturing was deployed at in a dirt parking lot. A Climatronics F460 cup anemometer and vane were used to measure wind speed and wind direction, respectively, at 10 m above the ground. A Vaisala HMP-45AC probe housed inside a R. M. Young multi-plate radiation shield provided air temperature and relative humidity at 2 m. These sensors were sampled once per second (1 Hz) and averaged over 5-minute intervals by a Campbell Scientific CR10 data logger. Electrical power needed to run the sensors and data logger was supplied by a rechargeable battery and a 10-Watt solar panel. The data logger time was set to Mountain Daylight Savings Time (MDT). A total of 6794 records were recorded between 19:10 MDT on 03 October 2000 and 09:15 MDT on 27 October 2000. Raw data is in TOWER.RAW for Mountain Daylight Time and in TOWER.UTM for Zulu Time. The files are in ASCII format. TOWER.DAT is an ASCII data file containing data from TOWER.RAW.
