The Sensor A single IR analyzer was located just 100 feet northwest of the SF6 source. The analyzer was the MIRAN SapphIRe portable ambient-air analyzer. http://www.thermoei.com/sap30.htm The Location The air sample delivered to the IR analyzer was collected simultaneously at four points between the Heber Wells and Federal building. The four points create a line about 15 m long. The closest Blue Box locations to this line are numbers 13 and 14. The Data SF6 was sampled continuously, and every 5 seconds the maximum (Max), minimum (Min),and average (Avg) concentrations were stored. See a small portion of the data in the table below. The listing below is a sample of the data from this analyzer. Time is in MST. All concentrations are in ppb. The Range is simply the difference between the Max and Min readings. The range is an indication that sampler is truly detecting SF6. The baseline (Base) concentration is computed by interpolating between average concentrations when the analyzer is outside of the plume of SF6. The true concentration of SF6 (Actual Avg) is the difference between the measured average (Avg) and the baseline (Base). The Workbooks The data from this sampler are in a series of Excel workbooks, one per IOP, six IOPs in all. The sampler participated in all three SF6 releases during IOPs 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, and 10, except for the first release of IOP 7. Also, during the first release of IOP 9, the analyzer was carried around to sample the air directly at the release point.
